The economy is facing a great deal of problems nowadays that many questions how much more they can rely on it. Companies that have once vouched financial security to its employees are also now doubted by its own people. Why? These companies are now cutting off jobs, retrenching, transferring or worst, firing many of its employees to cut on operational costs. People that once held on to the commitment of their companies are left alone in these trying times

No one is indispensable in a corporation. Regardless of your tenure at work, your yearly commendable performance, your income, your position, you are not secured anymore. Any time, you are a candidate of being laid off or retrenched once you are seen as a liability to the company. The company is of course protecting its own needs and will do any means to sustain it especially with an unreliable economy that we now have. So do not be surprised if you’ll be one of the many employees who won’t be getting back to work the following day. It is a sad truth that after all these times that you have put all your efforts in serving the company, they can get you out in an instant.

Companies now resort to outsourcing to alleviate their financial problems. Outsourcing jobs to other less expensive countries saves the companies from costly labor fees when hiring local employees. They save on high salaries, retirement and other benefits from hiring local employees.

American workers suffer the consequences of this situation with the stagnant increase in their minimum wage. There are no bills underway that will boost their paychecks. The buying power of an average pay is not comparable to its buying power five years ago when the economy was still stable. The condition of the wages is getting worse as years goes by.

Now, we cannot rely on the financial security that was once been the sales pitch of companies. Companies who have long benefited from the hardworking people they hired several years back. These people have no one tend for them but themselves. They have been ripped off of their benefits and retirement income that they have long held on from the companies they worked for. And to make matters worse, these companies have the law on their side with bankruptcy as their way out.

Entrepreneurs maybe the only ones who understand what financial security truly mean. They went out of their way to build their own businesses with all their skills, creativity and sheer guts to back them up. Relying on companies is not an option they chose knowing that they will not be spared of the company’s selfish side when trying times arise. They only depend on themselves by generating income from their businesses. They are assured that they have an income that will pay for their retirements.
